Olivier Morellet presents his animated graphic sequences

I have been painting or drawing for a long time on classical media. But I am also very sensitive to musical art, without unfortunately practicing it. Digital techniques allow me today to give my works a dimension that reminds a certain limit of what music is: a succession of events that follow each other in time, overlap, intersect, respond or in a more or less melodic or rhythmic manner. But here the notes, stamps and measures are replaced by the strokes, the colors and the shapes in motion. And all this, paradoxically, in the absence of any sound accompaniment so that attention can focus entirely on the graphic object. Animated sequences are presented in the category "videos". For each sequence, the interested visitor will find in the category "drawings" a number of still images representative of the sequence. The same category also presents drawings and paintings in the traditional sense of the term, made by conventional or numerical means.

dark matter

A sequence based on the fixed compositions uploaded in September 2023. The material, very dark at the start, takes on some color in the last two movements.

pointillism

A sequence obtained by digital processing of real shots. The images are processed to modify their appearance and merge them. However, it has not been possible to completely reduce the effects of camera instability during the shooting process.

first movement: entirely based on images of luminous drones flying in the night sky over the port of Abu Dhabi.

second movement: drone images are joined by images of birds flying over the port of Mumbai.

third movement: the birds are replaced by other drones, this time flying over Lake Lugano, along with a few other shots featuring clouds of dots.

pointillism

A snapshot of the sequence: by clicking on the thumbnail, you can access the corresponding actual shot, in its raw state before digital processing...

dunes

Dunes in the desert around the Persian Gulf and, in the second movement, the elements of a digital composition presented in a recent article.

dunes

Here, rather than presenting snapshots of the animated sequence, we have chosen to exhibit five photos taken in the Gulf dunes and repeated in the last two movements of the sequence, in an aspect that makes some of them difficult to identify.
