Another nebulous sequence with, as often, different elements drawn or shot on the fly, such as this photo of a Mediterranean sky where, in a weird way, some clouds undulate like the water they overhang:
On a background of real aquatic surfaces, the compositions presented in the "clouds" section appear and disappear throughout the four movements of the sequence.
Plane trails in the Paris sky, boat wakes in the Arcachon basin or the Mediterranean sea, pure drawn elements ... and sometimes the passage of a bird not really desired, but difficult to erase from the original video.
Where we find the natural elements appearing in the last two sequences, in different arrangements and colours, in an almost unchanged chronological order.
First version of the sequence: a rather fast running of the elements ...
Second version of the sequence: slower running and the dominant blue colour ...
Third version: even slower, and all in black and white except for a few seconds.
Water again, here in all its states: vaporous, liquid or solid.
first movement: the volutes emitted by the geysers of El Tatio in Chile, the swell near South Georgia and the ice of the Antarctic Peninsula.
second movement: the waves of the Arctic and Antarctic oceans.
third movement: the sprawling expanses of Lake Titicaca or the Pacific off the coast of Peru, and again the geysers of El Tatio.
A sequence mainly using videos shot during a recent trip to Bolivia, Chile and Peru, wich reflect a continuous movement in a setting of natural elements.
first movement: a long flying over the surface of the Salar de Uyuni, a salt lake with a surface area of 11,000 square kilometres in Bolivia; depending on the places, the surface looks very different and is reproduced here as it appears, apart from a few rare digital treatments.
second movement: fast run on the salar, following closely, or from far away, the lines traced by the ground markings of a road winding through the Chilean Atacama Desert.
third movement: still in the salar, slow sunrise on the horizon; in the foreground, new salt surfaces in Uyuni or the vast water expanses of the Pacific Ocean along the coast of Peru.
A progression towards a horizon never reached, along sinuous lines and textured surfaces, with jerks, the fleeting passage of different patterns and detours along the side paths. You will notice that each movement ends roughly as it started.
first movement: rather sinuous lines ...
second movement: more textured surfaces ...
third movement: lines and surfaces deformed in 3D space ...
In the last movement, the symmetry between the beginning and the end is not obvious at first sight; however, after having more or less followed the course of a red line, the camera turns halfway so that - now along a blue line - we once again cross each of the objects encountered successively in the first half of the course, but seen from another angle and with some marginal changes in position or shape.
A sequence based on only three graphic motifs, animated and transformed by different light effects.
first movement: shadows around the blue pattern,
second movement: gleams and mists around the yellow pattern,
third movement: itinerary along the curves of the red pattern,
fourth movement: variations around the three motifs combined.
The six movements of the sequence are entirely constructed from elements of the compositions made..... in red and black.
The starting point of the sequence consists of four fixed compositions already presented as such in old articles in the "drawings" section.
At the beginning of the animated sequence, most of the constituent elements of the compositions overlap to form a relatively uniform frame.
Then a first composition gradually emerges in its integrity, but for a short time because another replaces it progressively.
And so on... to a final new composition, which is built from elements of the first four and which colors undergo various transformations themselves.
