a reef emerges

In north-western Australia, the tidal range is such that on a falling tide, seawater covering a reef at high tide takes longer to drain away from the reef than it takes for it to be swallowed up again. The result is hours of water cascading down the reef's slopes.

The shots of the phenomenon are taken from a zodiac in rough water, which makes it difficult to keep the camera steady.

 

efflorescence

A phytoplankton bloom is the proliferation of plankton on the ocean surface. Real-life shots of this phenomenon appear several times in the sequence. Added to this are what can also be described as efflorescence, i.e. iridescent pools of petrol or clouds of silt raised by a ship's anchor. Finally, there are a few drawn shapes.

 

ink roll

"ink roll" is a type of inking offered by Procreate drawing software.

This style can be found in some of the recently published digital compositions. The animated sequence takes up the elements of these compositions in dynamic form.

 

the shadows

In the same vein as the "traces on the snow" sequence, the shadows cast on snow by trees and pylons... then on a terrace, the sea, ice, desert or even salt by furniture, clouds and various elements from recent digital compositions.

 

merger

The sequence is the result of merging two older animated sequences that were not interesting enough to feature on the site.
